Kalitta has been a leader in the air charter industry for almost four decades. Owned by the Kalitta family, the MedFlight division began operation in 1985. Since then, the program has evolved continuously to meet the changing needs of our customers. What began as a simple medical transport service has grown into a highly respected organization that is unparalleled within the industry.

Kalitta Charters, LLC. is headquartered at Willow Run Airport in Ypsilanti, Michigan (YIP) with additional operations in Morristown, Tennessee (MOR). It also has aircraft positioning at off-base locations throughout the United States.

Kalitta Charters is an FAR part 135 air carrier regularly providing on-demand services worldwide, using a fleet of 11 Learjets, 10 Falcon 20s and 1 King Air. It holds the FAA Air Carrier Certificate. All transfers are owned, operated, and maintained by Kalitta Charters, LLC, and all are flown by two-pilot crews. All our pilots are certified FAA-approved, attend full-motion simulator training annually and participate in ongoing in-house training programs.

Our MedFlight crews are trained and held to the highest standards recognized by the Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems (CAMTS) and the United States Department of Defense (DoD). Our MedFlight teams undergo monthly skills training and validation to ensure the highest level of competency and patient safety.

Kalitta MedFlight’s air ambulance missions have a response time of as little as two hours from the moment we receive the call to take off.

Kalitta Charters currently provides service to a diverse commercial customer base including the DoD, Air Ambulance Specialists, Shriners Hospital for Children, Akron Children’s Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Michigan, MedCorp, and Cleveland Metro Life Flight.

Kalitta MedFlight is one of the few medical transport operations in the country with the diversity and capability to manage all critical care medical populations. We operate specialized teams devoted to each patient subgroup, from neonatal to adult.
